Man United target Alaba drops Arsenal hint: ‘They were my childhood team’

Arsenal fans will be cursing the recent Champions League draw, the Premier League stalwarts being paired with Bayern Munich.

This is hardly positive news, the two sides facing each other in 2005, 2013 and 2014 in a knockout situation in the same tournament, and in the group stages last season.

The Gunners will famously be remembered for limping home following a 5-1 humbling at the hands of the Bundesliga champions.

There may just be a silver lining to the latest draw, however, with David Alaba confessing that he was a childhood Arsenal fan.

Recently linked to Manchester United, the Austrian international told the Bild (via Metro) that “games against Arsenal are always beautiful because in my childhood they were my favourite team!”.

‘Playing in London is also fantastic – almost as good as the Allianz Arena.’
Bayern recently wrested back sole possession of first place in the Bundesliga from RB Leipzig, while Arsenal dropped to (joint) third place by losing 2-1 to Everton in midweek.

They’re set to face off at the Allianz Arena on February 15th, and at the Emirates on March 7th.
