USA, OFFICIAL: Klinsmann sacked as Head Coach

The US Football Federation has announced the sacking of national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann. The former German World Cup winner has been relieved of his duties after a disappointing start to their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign. Recent defeats to both Costa Rica and Mexico were the final nails in the 52-year-olds coffin.

The President of the federation, Sunil Gulati, issued a statement that read; “We thank Klinsmann for the great work he has done in these last five-years. It wasn’t an easy decision to take. We remain confident we can still qualify for Russia 2018 but the board were unanimous is taking the decision to make a change at the helm”.

Klinsmann was linked with the possible vacancy at England after the dismissal of Sam Allardyce but ruled himself out claiming that he had never been contacted by the Football Association. Interim coach Gareth Southgate held a three-hour interview with England chiefs today and is expected to be officially unveiled as new Head Coach next week.
