ROMANO: Embolo-Juve verbal agreement out the window, Arsenal in race too

“Yes, we’ve been following Embolo for a while”. Juventus DG Giuseppe Marotta has nowhere to hide at this stage.

Along with his right-hand man, Fabio Paratici, Marotta has been keeping tabs Breel-Donald Embolo on a weekly basis for a while now.

Last summer, we confirmed that Embolo was among the Old Lady’s transfer targets objectives – at least until Juve were forced to give up because of FC Basel’s high pricetag.

18 years old and flaunting an arsenal that is mouth-watering, to say the least, Embolo is unlikely to remain in Switzerland long. The question is, what are Juve’s chances?

For a start, the verbal agreement between the two clubs for a 4-year contract no longers seems to be valid.
Trouble is, Juventus will have to fight off interest from the Premier League (Arsenal and Everton) as well as Wolfsburg, who were also in the running last summer.

With Arsene Wenger sending a scout to follow the young prodigy, Basel have made the most of the situation by upping their demands to the €30 million mark, €5 million more than last time round.
