Juventus on red alter as Conte meets key midfield target
The talented midfielder has six months left in his contract with Zenit and Juventus have already found economic agreement to sign him at the end of the season as a free agent.
With the Old Lady looking for some midfield reinforcement, however, Marotta wants to anticipate Witsel’s arrival and sign the 26-year-old for a fee in the region of € 8 million. Zenit’s asking price is € 10 million and the two parties are now as close as ever.
Trouble is, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte could spoil Juventus’ party. According to Tuttosport, Juventus’ former tactician has met the player’s entourage making an opening contract offer. If Witsel agrees on terms with Chelsea, the South-West London club could become a solid contender for the signing of the former Benfica star as Zenit’s € 10 million asking price can be easily matched by the Blues.
