Juventus agree €20m fee for promising Italian defender

Juventus are close to signing promising Italian defender Mattia Caldara from Atalanta. The Old Lady has found economic agreement with La Dea and is going to pay € 15 million plus add-ons to lure the 22-year-old centre-back. The total transfer fee with add-ons included is around €20 million which is exactly Atalanta’s asking price.

Caldara is playing the first season of his career in Serie A but has been delivering some stunning performances so much so Milan, Inter, Napoli and Roma had also been scouting the player, but Juventus have stolen the talented 22-year-old defender from under their rival’s noses.

Caldara has also scored three goals in 10 appearances so far this season and is set to remain on loan at Atalanta until the end of the campaign before moving to Juventus at the beginning of next season.

The deal has yet to be officialised by Juventus and Atalanta but the two parties have found an agreement for the Italian defender who has released an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I’m honoured to be linked with a move to Juventus”, Caldara has said. The BBC members (Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini) are my role models. I like their mentality, they are the best club in Italy, though Roma have very strong players too.”
