Juventus, AC Milan target Axel Witsel announces Zenit summer exit

Juventus and AC Milan target Axel Witsel has announced he wants to leave his current club Zenit St. Petersburg at the end of the season.

The Belgium International’s contract runs until 2017, but the central midfielder wants to leave the club earlier than that.

“My idea is to leave Russia this summer”, Witsel told Dhnet.

“The Champions League exit left a bitter taste in our mouths, but we have to focus on the league now. There are nine games left  and we are six points behind table leaders CSKA Moscow”, he added.

The 27-year-old central midfielder joined Zenit St. Petersburg from Benfica for a fee of € 40 million back in 2012, but he could leave the Russian side for an offer of € 25 million next summer.

Witsel has scored four goals and registered as much assists in 31 games in all competitions this term.
