Jonathan hits out at ‘negligent’ and ‘incompetent’ Inter club doctors
“It was the worse period of my career”, the 29-year-old told the Brazilian website.
“I was sidelined for almost eight months, but I am a stronger man and footballer now.”
“I suffered an injury during the summer training camp, but doctors told me that it was nothing serious so I played for three more months with an injury. Not having studied medicine, I had to believe and trust them.”
“The situation went from bad to worse when I had to stop training. I was in pain even when I was walking up the stairs. I picked up the injury in July 2014, but I could have a surgery only in February 2015. If they had operated me before that date, I could have had a quicker recovery.”
“That was a very tough time for me. People believed doctors and not me. They thought it was nothing serious, but my contract with Inter run until the following summer so undergoing a surgery would have meant decreasing chances to have my contract extended.”
“I used to play on a regular basis before the injury and everyone was happy at the club, but people have short memory. That’s football, I can’t complain too much.”
“God had other plans for me, but Inter doctors’ negligence and incompetence left me shocked.”
“I had to do physical therapy alone in Serbia because I didn’t trust them anymore. My wife was pregnant at that time. I don’t like to judge people, but their negligence was a very serious one.”
“One can’t have a surgery seven months after picking up an injury. I have no problems with Inter, only with their doctors.”
“The club wanted to extend my contract, but I didn’t. I couldn’t trust them anymore. My agent found a way to let me train in Partizan Belgrade’s training centre. The club paid for my surgery, I paid for the physical therapy.”
“Genoa, Atalanta and Torino wanted to sign me, but I decided to go back to Brazil alongside my wife. I am playing for Fluminense now and I dream of playing for Brazil national team. The Brazilian league is more competitive than European leagues, where there is too much difference between small and big clubs.”
