Man Utd target Strootman set for Roma extension
Kevin Strootman may still be injured, but that doesn't seem to be discouraging Roma from wanting the Dutchman to stay.
In fact, according to a report from Sky Sport Italia, the Giallorossi are expecting to extend his contract within the next few weeks.
As it stands, the 25-year-old Dutch international's deal expires in 2018. Having previously interested Europe's elite, Strootman's career has been derailed by a horrific knee injury, which effectively kept him from making even a minimal contribution to the Roman cause last season.
The Strootman we saw before, however, was considered one of Europe's hottest young midfield prospects. Roma will hope he can get back to that level, with his return to the pitch expected in the next few weeks.
