CM Scouting: meet Chelsea’s rising star Charlie Colkett
Isahia Brown and Solanke played a vital role in Chelsea’s last year triumph while Charlie Colkett’s talent has been one of the brightest the tournament could offer this term.
Born in London in 1996, Colkett is a left-footed central midfielder with stunning technical skills and amazing vision. Given his position on the pitch, his role model is Cesc Fabregas, though his dream is to follow John Terry’s path at Stamford Bridge.
Scorer of one goal in eight Youth League games, he also racked up 11 appearances in the Barclays U-21 Premier League.
Former Chelsea boss José Mourinho has a very high opinion of the 19-year-old midfielder, so much so he trained several times with Chelsea senior team last term.
Colkett’s teammates Tammy Abraham (scorer of 8 goals in the Youth League this season) and Kasey Palmer are also among the most promising prospects of the Blues’ youth team which won the tournament’s final against PSG today.
Chelsea’s next boss Antonio Conte will decide whether to keep Colkett in the squad or loan him out to a Championship team to allow him gaining experience and getting game time.
