Which future for Germany striker Mario Gomez?
The Germany head coach started Mario Gotze as a false nine in the first two games of the tournament (against Ukraine and Poland), but given the Bayern Munich striker’s wastefulness in front of goal he opted for a classic centre forward in the following two clashes (Northern Ireland and Slovakia).
Gomez netted two goals in as much games, becoming best Germany striker in the European Championships (5 goals) alongside Jurgen Klinsmann. The 31-year-old striker has scored four goals in the last four games he started with his national team.
What about his future? Besiktas could sign him to permanent deal for just € 1.000 but Gomez wants to join a bigger club. That’s why he could return to Fiorentina before moving to another club.
Paulo Sousa’s favourite striker is Nikola Kalinic and Gomez doesn’t want to stay at Fiorentine either. In addition, his contract at the Franchi expires in June 2017 and the next transfer window will be the last one Fiorentina can use to monetize the striker’s sale.
