Tronchetti Provera: 'You can't run a club from Beijing, if Moratti were here...'

A major ally of Massimo Moratti's has spoken out against Inter Milan's current owners.

Marco Tronchetti Provera has been the CEO of Pirelli, Inter's main sponsor, since 1992, and played a big role at the club before Moratti stepped down in 2004.

“Even an extraordinary Coach can’t achieve great things without a club,” he told a program on GR Parlamento, answering a question about Frank De Boer, “A football team can’t be run by Jakarta, from Beijing or Nanjing”.

Inter have now lost 5 Serie A games this season, having fallen to Sampdoria last night at the Marassi. This led Provera to talk about Moratti:

“He won 15 titles in six years because the club was there. In general the only winning formula is a passionate ownership, one that is close to the team: exactly like Berlusconi with Milan, Agnelli with Juventus…”

“The club has made too many mistakes at the start of the current campaign.

“Moratti's return? This problem should have been solved long ago, people would speak differently of Inter right now”.
