Why Juventus, not Barca or Bayern are by far the best league team of 2016
They may not have won the Champions League – or even come close, to be frank – but Juventus can still be compared to Europe's best teams.
According to an analytical piece published in today's Corriere dello Sport, Max Allegri's team has earned the most league points in the 2016 calendar year – and it isn't particularly close.
The Bianconeri lead the continent with 100 points, earned from a possible 114. In second place, quite a bit behind, are Real Madrid with 91, though their superior total to Barcelona (87) wasn't enough to bridge the gap in La Liga. Roma are, remarkably, fourth in this table, while Napoli are behind them (83 and 81).

PSG are level with Maurizio Sarri's men, while Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich follow them.
Both Mancunian sides are nowhere near, having racked up only 66 points.
As much as one can factor in the relative difficulty of each league and consider the Serie A's relative decline, this is still massive for a team like Juventus.
