    AS Monaco starlet snubbed Real Madrid move

    AS Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe rejected a move to Real Madrid back in 2013, the player has told Telefoot. Mbappe turns 18 today and is a product of AS Bondy academy. When the Ligue1 giants contacted him to join their youth sector, Zinedine Zidane also made contact with him trying to persuade the talented winger to move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

    Real Madrid have become a sort of second home for all the best French footballers out there given that Zidane can be particularly persuasive with his compatriots. As ESPN reports, it was Zidane who convinced Rapahel Varane to move to Real Madrid back in 2011.

    “It was a special moment because I met the greatest French player in history, but in the end I said no to Real Madrid because I didn’t want to leave my country so early. It wouldn’t have worked. I chose Monaco and that was the right choice.”
