It’s time for us to explain a photo that has done the rounds of social media: that of a solitary Napoli fan celebrating Jose Callejon’s momentary equaliser against Juventus on Saturday… and the expressions on the faces of the home supporters around him.
We’ll leave the task to the man himself, whose name is Violante and is a businessman.
“I was the only Napoli fan in Turin that night,” he told local Radio Marte. Italian authorities had prevented the visitors’ fans from turning up for the game, but Violante managed to find a way through.
“I managed to get in because I was a guest of Technogym, as well as some relatives of mine.
“When I celebrated Callejon’s goal, [Juventus fans] yelled all sorts of things at me: they yelled “f***ing Neapolitan”.
“I don’t think Juventus fans acted well or badly: the ultras were very aggressive towards us.
“I don’t rispect or like Gonzalo Higuain anymore, what he did to us was unbelievable. So I couldn’t care less about his goal”.
