    The 'derby della Lanterna' between Genoa and Sampdoria comes in a very different moment for the two clubs as the grifone sit 9th in the Serie A table, three points behind a Champions League spot and with one match in hand. 

    Sampdoria, on the other hand are two points above the relegation zone despite a set of very convincing performances. The blucerchiati, however, failed to impress last week when they were held to 0-0 draw by new Serie A boys Pescara which played the whole second half with ten men.

    Genoa are also coming from a goalles stalemate against strugglers Empoli.
