OPINION: Why should Gabbiadini extend Napoli contract?
Gabbiadini’s new deal would make him earn € 2.5 million a year until 2021, but his salary can even raise to € 3 million a year with add-ons. De Laurentiis thinks extremely high of the former Sampdoria ace and is going to extend the player’s contract after that Gabbiadini rejected to complete a € 25 million Watford switch last summer.
Gabbiadini, a product of Juventus academy, has yet to decide whether to accept Napoli’s proposal or not. On the one hand, his impact on the team was tremendous last season despite lack of game time. He scored nine goals in 982 minutes played in all competitions. The departure of Higuain seemed to be the right opportunity for him to battle it out with Milik for a spot in the starting XI at the San Paolo this season. Trouble is, Milik has already netted more goals than Higuain at this stage of the season.
The Italian striker should start tomorrow’s Genoa clash from the bench after that Milik replaced him to score a vital brace for Napoli last week-end.
What should Gabbiadini do? Extend his stay at Napoli waiting for his chance to shine or look for another team that can sign him in January?
