    BREAKING! Milan's Christmas shopping list

No rest for the wicked: after a disappointing start to their campaign, Milan will be hoping that 2016 will bring them greater joy, and have already begun to plan their transfer strategy for January. If the attack is complete and the defence will likely only witness departures, the midfield could see movement in both directions.

As we have already reported, Milan are thinking of coming up with the cash to buy Sinisa Mihajlovic two players in midfield. Roberto Soriano, already a summer target, would be acquired in return for both cash and players going the other way. Juventus target Ever Banega is also on the Rossoneri's target, as is Axel Witsel, though he is a prohibitively expensive option.

    Among the other options,
Marten de Roon shouldn't leave Bergamo until next June at the earliest. Two more likely targets are Adrien Rabiot (him again!) and Mati Fernandez, a realistic option as he is no longer a starter, though talk is he's close to renewing with the Gigliati.

On the wing, the Rossoneri are looking for someone who can fit the 4-4-2 a certain S.Berlusconi has been insisting on, and who can preferably play on the right. Alejandro Gomez was an idea that was considered until Diego Perotti took centre stage Seeing as they get on like a house on fire with Genoa, and they have a number of players who could be moving to the Marassi, negotiating with Preziosi seems more likely.
Among the more ambitious moves, Kevin Mirallas isn't happy at Everton, and isn't on good terms with manager Roberto Martinez. He wants to star at next year's European Championships, and could do with a breath of fresh air.

A final possibility is Jeremain Lens, a longtime Milan target who is on bad terms with Sunderland and could be a January low-cost steal.

Among the players leaving, Nigel de Jong earns
3 million a year and is outside of the club's plans.

Riccardo Montolivo should renew, whilst Keisuke Honda should stay till next summer. It'll be hard for Alessio Cerci to return early from his loan, though Silvio Berlusconi's recent criticism could throw this into jeopardy.

With Suso and Antonio Nocerino close to Genoa and Andrea Poli close to Sampdoria (and Napoli), a positive surpruse is Jose Mauri's re-emergence. Having impressed Mihajlovic in the little time he's been afforded, he could now be set to stay if a number of players at his position leave.
