Lazio threaten to sue striker Keita for allegedly faking knee injury
The Capitoline club believes that the former Barcelona youngster is faking an injury and trying to force an exit from the Olimpico and, in a statement released today, Lazio claim that they'll take the 21-year-old to court.
He has been linked to the likes of Juventus and Inter of late, with reports indicating that it was the Biancocelesti themselves who were looking to sell him.
Here are the salient paragraphs from the club's official statement:
“S.S. Lazio consider footballer Keita Balde Diao's behaviour to be unaccetable and very damaging. He has decided to desert Lazio's first game of the season by claiming a injury to his left knee as an excuse.
This appears to be a misleading ploy to Coach Simone Inzaghi and to an expert authority like Angelo Peruzzi, and completely baseless after repeated checks undertaken by the club's orthopaedic surgeon, Doctor Fabio Rodia.
Diao has also released a series of statements we consider to be very offensive and incredibly aggressive towards both the club and its ownership, with the obvious goal of facilitating a move that would be favourable to an eventual buyer and intermediaries, and obviously at the expense of Lazio and its fans.
The club intends to defend its own credibility in every appropriate court of law, not to mention its standing amongst its fans”.
