Mancini: "no talks" with Pirlo, no Chelsea ambitions

During the press conference that foresees tomorrow’s lunchtime game at Torino, Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini talked about his striker Mauro Icardi, who didn’t start in the game vs AS Roma: “Mauro didn’t need to prove anything to me during the week, it was a tactical decision to leave him on the bench. It happens in all teams. Will he play tomorrow? We’ll see, I haven’t decided the squad yet, I hope to get it right”.

The former Manchester City manager also commented the rumors about the possibility for Andrea Pirlo to join his team.

"I haven't spoken to him. Of course, anything can happen in football, but there have been no talks.

"MLS is over for the season, so maybe he wants to rest, otherwise I’m sure some clubs will be interested if he fancies a return to Italy, as he’s a fantastic player.

"Pirlo is a champion, not an average player. He has amazing technique and reads the game quicker than most players. But, I repeat, I don’t know his intention.  In the future we may look at players with similar skills as now we have players that are physically strong and they can give us more from January onward"

Regarding his own future, Mancini was quite cutting.

“Do I see myself on Chelsea’s bench next year? Well, if you miss just two games you are immediately brought into question.

"Becoming an Inter executive? In Italy it’s difficult to remain with the same team for ten, fifteen years”.
