From Japan: Sagan Tosu linked with a move for Buffon

It remains an impossible dream but according to Sponichi Annex, Japanese club Sagan Tosu, currently coached by Italian Massimo Ficcadenti, want to bring legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to the club by convincing him to end his career in the Far-East.

The Juventus and Italy number one has a current contract in Turin until 2018 and has already stated that he wants to continue playing until at least the 2018 World Cup in Russia should the Azzurri make the finals. What happens after that is down to the player himself and if he feels as though he could carry on at the ripe old age of 40, then it’s likely he will stay at the bianconeri.

Sagan Tosu plays in the J1 League, the top division in the country but unlike the more lucrative Chinese Super-League, the championship has failed to lure the top talent from around the world. It’s unlikely that the dream to bring one of the best goalkeepers in the history of the game to the country will ever come to fruition.
