CM EXCLUSIVE: Napoli ready to secure Arsenal target Higuain
As outlined by calciomercato.com’s transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, in the last days there has been a meeting between the azzurri’s executives and the family of the Argentina international –his father Jorge “El Pipa” and his brother and agent Federico- to talk about the player’s agent. And –as revealed by Federico Higuain himself- an agreement was not found: the player was still feeling committed to Napoli and president De Laurentiis considered him a cornerstone of his project, but a financial effort was needed.
Now –Romano explains- things could change, and there are undercover contacts between the two parties.
The 27-year-old should renew until 2019 and obtain an important salary.
The only problem concerns the 94-million-euros release clause, that De Laurentiis doesn’t want to reduce. On the other hand, the Campania’s club owner can count on the great relations between the former Real Madrid player –who is a target for Arsenal- and his new coach Maurizio Sarri.
