Barcelona president Bartomeu to negotiate personally with Messi over star’s contract extension
The Argentinean star was rumoured not to be open to pen new Barcelona contract earlier week, but the player’s father Horacio has denied that Messi is not willing to extend his stay at the Nou Camp, claiming that the two parties will meet pretty soon to discuss a new deal for the Argentinean star.
Messi was said to be feeling mistreated by Spanish judges and media following his 21-month sentence for tax fraud, but this is not going to be the reason that will see the Argentinean superstar leaving the Nou Camp.
Messi’s Barcelona contract runs until 2018 and the blaugrana President is personally going to sit around the negotiations table with the 29-year-old striker to agree to terms of a new deal.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City would be in pole position to sign Messi if he’d reject a new deal with the club, although the former Newell’s Old Boys is now likely to extend his stay at the club and end his playing career at Barcelona.
