Manchester City, Guardiola; "If Messi left Barcelona it would be a fight between five clubs"

After his team was thumped 4-0 at the Camp Nou by Barcelona last night, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola spoke to Sky Sport. He was asked if he had ever made enquiries about bringing the Argentine superstar to the Etihad Stadium to which he replied; “I have not spoken to him, I hope he finishes his career at Barcelona as this is the best place for him and he can stay for many more years”.

He added that; “It is possible that one day he could decide to play elsewhere, perhaps so his children can learn English or simply for him to try a new experience like many of us have done in the past. If one day however, he does decide to leave Barcelona and I really hope this does not happen, there would be a list of four-five clubs competing for his signature.

Messi scored his 37th career hattrick at the Camp Nou on Wednesday evening to ensure it was another forgettable homecoming for his former coach.
