AS Roma-Inter Milan Match preview | Team comparison and OPTA Facts
Luciano Spalletti’s side have won each of their previous eight games in Serie A and their amazing winning streak has allowed them to leapfrog Fiorentina and Inter in third place. Roma are five points clear their next opponents, who are now sharing a fourth spot with Paulo Sousa’s side.
Roberto Mancini’s Inter racked up ten points from their previous six games (3W, 1D, 2L) but are still in race to qualify to Europe’s elite tournament even if they’ll have to do without their seasonal leading scorer Mauro Icardi.
Inter won the reverse fixture with goal came courtesy of Gary Medel. Rudi Garcia was the Giallorossi boss at that time, when AS Roma travelled to the San Siro as the Serie A table leaders.
Last time Inter won an away game in Serie A against AS Roma was in 2008 when they trashed their opponents 4-0 thanks to a brace scored by a certain Zlatan Ibrahimovic and goals from Dejan Stankovic and Victor Obinna.
Mohammed Salah is Roma’s leading scorer with 11 goals in Serie A. Mauro Icardi has one more than the former Fiorentina winger, but as we mentioned above, the Argentinean striker has been ruled out for tomorrow’s clash.
The other players who deserve a mention are Miralem Pjanic and Edin Dzeko, scorers of 9 and 7 goals respectively, Ivan Perisic and Stevan Jovetic. The Croatian winger has scored two successive goals and is Inter’s second-best striker with five goals. The Montenegro International has plundered four so far.
After the national team break, Roma will have another key clash as they will face city rivals Lazio at the beginning of April, while Inter will host Torino before travelling to Frosinone.
