ANALYSIS: Paulo Dybala vs. Carlos Tevez
The debut of the 21 year old at the Juventus Stadium seems to justify his exuberant price-tag as Dybala is the current team’s top-scorer having plundered five goals in 13 games.
Despite the Bianconeri’s supporters hit out at Allegri for the Argentinean’s lack of playing time, none among Alvaro Morata, Mario Manduzkic and Simone Zaza has played more minutes than Dybala thus far.
The product of the Instituto Atletico Central Cordoba academy is getting praise and credit at the Juventus Stadium as he is a proving to be much more than just a predator who comes to life in the penalty area.
Dybala’s toughest challenge at the club, by the way, is not justifying his expensive price tag, but picking up the baton of Carlos Tevez. The 31 year old spent two amazing spell with the Old Lady scoring 50 goals in 96 games.
The Boca Juniors star joined the Bianconeri on a € 9 million deal from Manchester City in 2013, winning two Scudetto and one Coppa Italia.
Tevez was the centerpiece of Juventus’ attacking line both under Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri. He was an aggressive runner who didn’t gave the defenders any peace. The former Manchester United striker snatched six goals in the first 13 Juventus games, just one more than Dybala.
Things are looking rosy for the 21 year old as his scoring rate his higher that the former Manchester City star’s.
Tevez played 1079 minutes in his first 13 games with the Old Lady, netting once every 179,83 minutes, while Dybala is scoring a goal every 129,4 having racked up 647 minutes in his first 13 games.
If having a higher scoring rate than Tevez is something difficult to achieve, although possible, having the same leadership that Tevez had inside the Bianconeri dressing room is quite another thing, but if Dybala will be given time, he will prove that he can hold the candle to his charismatic compatriot.
