Stefano Pioli has decided to take immediate measures following his Inter’s humiliating collapse in Naples last night. Beaten 3-0 by a brilliant Napoli, the former Lazio Coach has decided to make his players undergo extra training session in punishment.
Though we think he is right, one has to ask: where is the club in all of this? Where is the chorus of directors coming to his aid? Where is the support for a once-again-beleaguered team? Are we seeing a repetition of the radio silence that surrounded Frank De Boer?
This club keeps spitting out Coaches (and directors) whole, and hasn’t improved in a long while. At what stage do we start blaming the players, especially those who haven’t bought into the club’s project?
This is why Pioli is right to force his men to train on Sunday, normally a rest day.
Remember, De Boer called his players out publicly for a lack of application, and eventually got sacked. We were wrong to put it all on him. This squad needs a major technical boost, not to mention a moral one.
