Vote: Is Buffon still the number one goalkeeper in the world?
His performance against the Ligue1 giants yesterday, was vital for Juventus to secure a crucial win for the future of the club in this competition. Things would have became incredibly more complicated to make it through the next stage in case of defeat and the first spot in the group would have become an impossible dream once again.
“Those we were waiting for my funeral can go the ceremony, but will find nobody there”, the Italian shot-stopper told Premium Sport minutes after the final whistle.
Is this 38-year-old man still the best goalkeeper in the world?
Buffon is definitely among the best three players in his role alongside Manuel Neuer and David De Gea. Samir Handanovic and Hugo Lloris are two valiant shotstoppers indeed, but they’ve never been at the same level of Buffon, whilst other goalies like Petr Cech, Iker Casillas and Thibaut Courtois are struggling a bit at the moment. Donnarumma? He’s the natural heir of Buffon, but one can’t really compare them at the moment.
As of today, we still believe that Buffon is the best goalkeeper out there. Which one do you think is the best?
