EXCLUSIVE Juventus' plans to replace Buffon include Donnarumma

Juventus have a clear plan in mind to recruit Gianluigi Buffon’s successor.

Far from being an over-reaction to his recent mistakes against Udinese and Spain, the Bianconeri’s executives want to persist with their man, but realize that their man is 38 years old, and won’t last another ten years.

Though the Old Lady has scouted a number of talents like Marco Sportiello, Federico Marchetti and second goalkeeper Neto, it doesn’t appear that they’re truly what they’re looking for. These players are seen as replacements, as backups.

The new Buffon would have to be young, born in the latter half of the 90’s, with all the potential to become superstars for the next 10-15 years.  Profiles which, in other words, resemble Buffon’s back when he moved to Turin in 2001.

The Number 1 target is Gianluigi Donnarumma who, unfortauntely for Juventus, plays for a rival club and is set to cash in on a big deal once he turns 18. Then again, Juventus are close to agent Mino Raiola, to whom Gigio’s name has been dropped every single time the Italo-Dutchman has been in Turin, whether it was over Paul Pogba, Moises Kean or Blaise Matuidi.

Another name has, however, been doing the rounds: that of Alex Meret, who belongs to Udinese, as well as that of Alban Lafont, known in Italy as the “French Donnarumma”. Beyond the Toulouse youngster, Adrian Semper of Dinamo Zagreb is also popular, as it Pierluigi Gollini… who moved to Aston Villa last summer.
