Uefa reward clubs whose players were involved in Euro 2016: Juve will be the richest
UEFA will pay-out €150 million to reward clubs who sent players to this summer’s European Championships. This is an increase of €50 million from the amount offered in 2012. Of the total amount, 100 million will go to teams who had players competing in the knockout phase of the competition whilst the other 50 million will go to clubs whose players took part in qualifying.
JUVE THE RICHEST:
European football’s governing body will shortly make a statement to announce how the money will be divided but its Juventus that, along with Liverpool, had the most players (12) in the tournament that will receive the largest share. UEFA competitions director Giorgio Marchetti explained that; “European clubs are an integral part of the success of our competitions for national teams. Therefore in relation to our understanding with the ECA (European Clubs Association), a substantial share of the proceeds generated by Euro 2016 will be distributed to teams who made their players available. It will be nice to reward over 600 clubs and these sums will help the growth of football over the whole continent”.
