Thiago Motta: 'I left Inter because of Marco Branca'

Thiago Motta has spilled the beans about his reasons for leaving Inter Milan for PSG back in 2012, and pointed the finger at former unpopular director of sport Marco Branca.

“I was happy at Inter," he told the Corriere dello Sport, "In truth there were people at the cluib who didn’t agree with me, as I wasn’t with them. An example to be clearer: Marco Branca, who was the director of sport alongside Gabriele Oriali back then. He didn’t think I should be there, and I felt that I didn’t enjoy the same confidence as before”.

“To be honest, when I got the chance to leave I asked myself: ‘I can either go to a place where there is a future for me, or stay here and change what is happening?”.

"But I saw it was very difficult. So I went to speak to president Moratti, who has always been a gentleman. He listened to me, told me what he thought, and we reached an agreement”.
