Suning buys Inter, Morratti & Thohir closer to an exit: the background to the days events
After the revolution of 15 November 2013 when Inter passed from the hands of Massimo Moratti to Erick Thohir, the walls of the club’s headquarters in Vittorio Emanuele are preparing to greet a new partner ready to give the nerazzurri a much needed cash injection.
Representatives of the Chinese group Suning have been in discussions all day, first with the city’s mayor Pisapia, before heading to Appiano Gentile where they have met coach Roberto Mancini and had a guided tour of the clubs training facilities.
FIRST 20% THEN THE ENTIRE CLUB
From 4.30 to 6.30pm, Suning officials met with Massimo Moratti and Erick Thohir over dinner where they have negotiated a deal to buy a 20% stake in the club. It’s not yet clear if Morratti intends to sell a small part of his holding (around 6%) or if it will be just the current president who relinquishes part of his control. The fact remains however, that within the next two-years, the Suning group will hope to have full control over Internazionale, with Thohir remaining at the club with a minority share.
