STAT ATTACK: Giovanni Simeone, El Cholo’s son shines for Genoa
Giovanni Simeone netted his first Serie A goal last week-end with the opener against Pescara. The 21-year-old striker joined the Grifone last summer and took just 123 minutes of play to find the net for the first time in Italy’s top flight.
Despite his young age, Simeone had already proved to be a ruthless striker in front of goal. He played a vital role in Argentina’s U-21 World Cup triumph in 2015, becoming the tournament’s best scorer.
He replaced Leonardo Pavoletti in the best way possible. Last Sunday he netted his first Serie A goal in the 1st minute of the second half, beating his compatriot Albano Bizzarri.
Last week-end’s Pescara clash was his first one as a starter. Also Diego Milito, Marco Borriello and Leonardo Pavoletti did the same in his first start with the club.
