Spurs, negotiations underway for Alderweireld extension
The Daily Mirror reports that Spurs are to begin negotiations with Belgian international defender Toby Alderweireld over a contract extension. The 27-year-old has a current deal at White Hart Lane until 2018 and the journal states that the North London club will extend that by a further two years.
Alderweireld has been one of the clubs outstanding performers this season after an impressive 2015-16 campaign when he arrived from Atletico Madrid. Spurs have been anxious to tie down their big stars and the big Belgian is set to follow in the footsteps of Harry Kane, Kyle Walker, Christian Eriksen, Danny Rose and Dele Alli who have all extended their already lengthy deals at the club.
Following on from Alderweireld will be goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who is also close to a contract extension at the club as boss Mauricio Pochettino plots another assault on the Premier League title after coming so close last season.
