Spurs, Man City, Watford, Chelsea: Serie A's Premier League Loanee Watch

Sixteen players moved from the Premier League to Serie A in last summer’s transfer window, five of them on loan: Federico Fazio, Mario Pasalic, Thomas Vermaelen, Joe Hart, Sven Kums and Adalberto Penaranda. The last two are under contract with Udinese who took them on loan from Watford as the Pozzo family own both clubs (as well as Granada FC in Spain).

Calciomercato.com has analysed their respective performances in Serie A this weekend.

    Federico Fazio (Torino-Roma, starter)
The Argentinean partnered Kostas Manolas in AS Roma’s 3-1 defeat at hands of Torino yesterday. Although the performances of full-backs Alessandro Florenzi and Bruno Peres were much worse than those of the two central defenders, Fazio did not have one of his best 90 minutes and was given a 5 out of 10 from each major Italian sports daily this morning.

    Thomas Vermaelen (AS Roma, injured)

    Joe Hart (Torino-Roma, starter)

The England number one faced the second penalty kick of his first four games with the granata, allowing Francesco Totti to score his second goal in his career against the English goalkeeper, who had already conceded one goal from the giallorossi captain in the 2014-15 Champions League encounter at The Etihad Stadium. A couple of great saves, however, helped Torino snatch a vital 3-1 over the Serie A title contenders. Hart was rated 7/10 by the Italian sports media.

    Sven Kums (Sassuolo-Udinese, starter)
The 28-year-old midfielder played his fourth Serie A game against Sassuolo yesterday, but his performance in the middle was not enough to get more than a 6/10 in any Italian newspaper this morning. Udinese are still struggling in Serie A, having racked up just seven points in their opening six games this season.

Adalberto Penaranda (Sassuolo-Udinese, replaced in the 61’ minute)
One hour of play was enough for Giuseppe Iachini to see that yesterday’s Sassuolo game was not the right one for Penaranda to score his first Serie A goal. Expectations are high as the 19-year-old striker is known as the youngest player to have scored a goal in La Liga, breaking Lionel Messi’s record last term.

Mario Pasalic (Fiorentina-AC Milan, not selected)
The Chelsea loanee has yet to get his first call-up for an official senior game with AC Milan. Yesterday he watched his teammates get a good 0-0 draw against Fiorentina from the stands of the Artemio Franchi. His agent recently told calciomercato.com  that the lack of game time is no problem for the 21-year-old midfielder, at least at this stage.
