Serie A set to overtake Premier League in UEFA Ranking
Observing the results of Italian teams in the last European campaigns as well, it emerges that the 3rd place actually take up by Premier League clubs is in serious trouble, together with the concrete chance for English teams of losing a Champions League place from the 2017-2018 season.
In the 2013-2014 campaign Italy placed Juventus in the Champions League final, while Fiorentina and Napoli stopped their booming Europa Leage expeditions in the semifinals.

Thanks to the mid-week exploit, Italy have reduced the gap from England to 3,4 points (66,409 against 62,939). Given that the UEFA Ranking only consider the last five European campaigns, at the end of this season England will lose the 2011-2012 stroke that brought to them 15,250 points against the 11,357 scraped together by the Italians.
Even though also the last Champions League campaigns have been disappointing for the English sides, the main reason that is outlining a Premier Leage slip up behind the Italians is their poor form in Europe League. If they won’t be able to make a rapid U-turn in the second most important European competition, than the Serie A overtake will be complete by the end of the season.
