Serie A Matchday 8: Top 5 flops of the weekend
Where there is success there is inevitably failure and week 8 also provided memories that some players will want to quickly forget.
Here out top 5 flops of the weekend:
5. Marco Sau (vs Inter): Whoscored rating 5.8
There were many success stories from Cagliari’s win at the San Siro against Inter on Sunday; unfortunately striker Marco Sau was not one of them. A player that has so often been the inspiration for his team was way off the pace this weekend.
4. Rodrigo de Paul (vs Juventus): Whoscored rating 5.5
Playing at the tip of new coach Luigi Delneri’s Udinese team in Turin against the champions was always going to be a hard task. The 22-year-old Argentine was pretty ineffective in just about everything he did before he was pulled from proceedings in the second-half.
3. Darko Lazovic (vs Empoli): Whoscored rating 5.1
Another Sunday, another Genoa dismissal; this time Darko Lazovic saw red in the goalless draw at home to Empoli. Two bookings in the opening 34 minutes put his side in extreme difficulty in a match they would have hoped to collect all three points.
2. Andrea Coda (vs Sampdoria): Whoscored rating 5.1
Another player in the bad boys club this weekend was Pescara centre-half Andrea Coda. The 31-year-old dismissal on the stroke of half-time making coach Massimo Oddo’s interval talk all that more difficult.
1. Fabrizio Cacciatore (vs Milan):Whoscored rating 5.0
His team’s first defeat at home since January and one that full-back Fabrizio Cacciatore will want to quickly forget. At fault straight after half-time for Niang’s goal to make it 2-0 to the visitors, a late yellow card when the match had finally slipped away, added insult to injury.
