Sacchi kept pestering Galliani to get Sarri, Milan went for Miha instead
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, however, Milan could have pounced on the talented Tuscan coach, who led Empoli to promotion to Serie A two seasons ago.
Pedullà reports that a certain Arrigo Sacchi kept pestering Adriano Galliani to get the Empoli manager, who was coming off a spectacular season, culminating in a 15th place-finish and a 46-goals campaign.
"If you get Sarri, you would admittedly be going back to square one, but you would be bringing in someone who would bring back a certain organization, a spectacular brand of football".
The club decided to meet the Tuscan coach and the two sides got on, but in the end decided to veer towards Sinisa Mihajlovic.
