Roma, Spalletti: "It's a good group, it could have been a lot worse"

Roma boss Luciano Spalletti has given his reaction to Roma TV after this lunchtime’s draw for the group stages of the Europa League. Having been paired with Viktoria Plzen, Austria Vienna and West Ham United’s conquerors FC Astra Giurgiu, the Tuscan tactician explained that; “Roma will be up against three clubs who are on the rise in European football, it’s very balanced and I don’t think there will be one squad that detaches itself from the rest. For us it is a good draw, we could have been paired with the likes of Manchester United, Ajax, Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal plus my old team Zenit St Petersburg”.

Asked how he would approach European competition now he replied; “We will try to do our best in the competition we must respect the Europa League. We’ve yet to really establish ourselves in Europe and if we progress further in the competition there will be a greater desire to do well”.
