Roma set to appoint Sevilla transfer guru Monchi as new sporting director
Roma are set to appoint a new director of sport, Sevilla’ own Monchi!
A bit of a cult hero in Europe over his ability to turn cheap buys into monster profits, the Rojiblancos’ long-term transfer guru met with the Giallorossi twice recently, the first time with Franco Baldini and Alex Zecca in London, in the week leading up to the recent derby against Lazio.
The information, which comes from the Gazzetta dello Sport (via ASRomaLive), should excite Roma fans, whose previous DS, Walter Sabatini, was cut in the same cloth.
Having agreed to the outlines of the deal, the Spaniard met with the Roman side in London once more, only this time with owner James Pallotta present.
This will lead the Spaniard to join the Lupa in June, with the Gazzetta claiming that Roma are still planning to make moves before he arrives, and are challenging Juventus for Atalanta stars Mattia Caldara and Frank Kessie, as well as Genoa midfielder Tomas Rincon.
