Roma in crisis: 6 managers who could succeed Rudi Garcia
The likes of Mohammed Salah, Lucas Digne and Edin Dzeko, who joined the club last summer, were supposed to boost Roma’s title expectations but La Lupa only sits 5th in Serie A seven points behind table leaders Inter.
“Today’s game was a failure”, Garcia told the journalists shortly after the shameful elimination on penalties by Spezia.
The Frenchman ruled out his dismissal too: ‘I am not going to hand in my resignation. I am going to stay here till death.”
Sporting Director Walter Sabatini is now facing a crossroad as president James Pallotta is reportedly surprisingly satisfied about the team’s results.
The American business-man considers impressive the team’s qualification to Champions League round of 16, though it came through great suffering.
On the other hand, fans and, probably, some players are not happy about Garcia’s job and the Giallorossi Sporting Director is now thinking about who could take over at the club in case Garcia is sacked.
First of all: should Roma sign an interim manager or should they get off to a new fresh start to the season appointing an experienced boss straight away?
Luciano Spalletti and Cesare Prandelli have already sat on the Stadio Olimpico bench and they could be both realistic option in case Roma will decide to kick off a new project straight after Garcia exit.
Walter Mazzarri doesn’t sound as a plausible choice as current Roma players might struggle to adapt to Mazzarri’s favorite system 3-5-2 and appointing former Juve, Inter and senior Italy national team head coach Marcello Lippi could be too risky right now.
As we exclusively reported at the beginning of December, Roma want to appoint Antonio Conte as the club’s new boss from next season. In this case, Francesco Guidolin might be the perfect interim manager to coach the team until July 2016.
Who do you think should replace Garcia at Roma?
