Roma DG Baldissoni: 'We have to compete with Juve's higher income'

It sounds like Roma aren’t too happy with the financial constraints they’ve had to operate under.

Director general Mauro Baldissoni expressed his frustration to Tele Radio Stereo, telling them “only one club wins, and we have to compete with their higher income”.

The Giallorossi are struggling to balance the books, despite having to sell Mehdi Benatia in 2014 (€28m), Marquinhos and Lamela in 2013 (€61m) and Gervinho last season (€18m). Despite that, the Lupa has posted losses of at least €30m every season from 2009-10 to 2013-14,

Baldissoni did, however, emphasize that the club was going in the right direction: “We’re trying to improve at the sporting level and we’re succeeding. We failed to qualify for the Champions League group stages but we’re still improving the team’s technical development. Though we still aim to win, we know we still need to work hard”.

Roma’s DG did, however, have some positive things to say about Roma’s new stadium.

“The Stadium is a huge priority, it merits attention because it won’t just be useful in a footballing sense, but also in the development of the city. We’re confident”.
