REPORT: Ancelotti turns down Roma bench, Lippi in running with Conte
What a morning to be a Roma fan!
Hours after we exclusively revealed that Roma wanted Antonio Conte to replace Rudi Garcia if the Frenchman was given his marching orders, news has emerged that Carlo Ancelotti was offered the bench, at least according to the Corriere dello Sport, who also claim he turned it down, claiming he wanted to end his sabbatical before thinking about a club.
Even if untrue, this piece is a way of applying pressure on under-fire Rudi Garcia. To be fair, Ancelotti revealed in recent times that he would have "loved" a move to Roma, but that he didn't want to join a club mid-season.
Libero is also reporting that Marcello Lippi has joined the race for the Roma bench. The former Juventus, Inter and two-time Azzurri manager recently revealed that he was "getting bored" of working in his son's youth academy, and wanted a return to top-level coaching.
Other options for Carletto include Bayern and Manchester City, though Pep Guardiola seems to be in pole position for the latter role.
