Premier League: Why Giggs did not replace Guidolin at Swansea City
Reports in this morning’s Daily Mail suggest that former Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs was snubbed by Swansea City in regards to the vacant managers job at the club.
Shortly after the Italian, Francesco Guidolin was sacked on Monday morning, an announcement was made by the club that former USA national team boss Bob Bradley would be the new man at the helm. The journal claims however, the Giggs was confident of landing his first full-time managerial role after leaving Old Trafford in the summer where he enjoyed a glittering playing career and spent two years as assistant manager to Louis van Gaal.
It’s believed that his inexperience in a top-flight role was the reason that he was ignored by the South Wales club and why they opted for the 58-year-old American who becomes the first from his country to manage in the Premier League. In more revelations by the paper, it’s thought that Giggs had already lined up his backroom staff with former teammate and current head of youth development at Manchester United, Nicky Butt, to have been his number two.
