Pioli counters Simeone: 'I want to Coach Inter for as long as possible'
Inter Coach Stefano Pioli wants to “remain as long as possible” at Inter, refuting speculation that has emerged since Diego Simeone’s latest declarations.
Speaking on Monday, the Atletico Madrid had confirmed what his son Giovanni had said, namely that he wants to Coach Inter one day.
Pioli, who took over in early November following Frank De Boer’s sacking, says he doesn’t feel threatened, however.
Inter have won only one Serie A game under Pioli so far, beating Fiorentina 4-2 last week. They’ve also impressed by drawing with AC Milan, but went down with all hands in Naples (0-3) on Friday. They face Sparta Prague in what is now a dead rubber for them on Thursday evening.
“I think that Simeone only expressed a wish. You know what mind is, I want to stay at Inter as long as possible.
“I’m in a great club, with great players, there’s still time and potential to do well, even though we’re still behind [the others]”.
