OPINION: Allegri was right over Rugani
However, the Bianconeri tactician should not underplay the result of the San Siro clash and it comes as no surprise that mainstays Gigi Buffon, Andrea Bzrzagli, Claudio Marchisio, Sami Khedira, Paul Pogba, Mario Mandzukic and Pulo Dybala will all start the next away Serie A game against Atalanta.
Daniele Rugani was among the most criticized players of the San Siro night. Allegri himself saw the bigger picture ahead of Juve-Napoli when he claimed that putting too much pressure of Rugani’s shoulder would have been inappropriate and even if everyone wanted to see him on the pitch, he would have been criticized after his first mistake.
That’s exactly how it went.
Youngsters need time and trust to develop and Allegri is one of those managers who’s willing to give both. No secret that Rugani will start against Atalanta too (‘helped’ by the injuries of Giorgio Chiellini and Martin Caceres).
“He needs to be more barefaced and remain calm. [Alessio] Romagnoli and him are be the future of Italy’s defense”, Allegri claimed after qualifying to the Coppa Italia final on penalties.
In the meantime, new young faces are expected to join the J Stadium from next summer. Not only from Italy, but also from Brazil. Internacional’s Rogerio and Corinthian’s Matheus Pereira have been ‘booked’ already, while the Old Lady has also set sights on Fluminense’s Douglas Augusto.
Juventus are also working on a partnership with Leganes to make the Spanish side becoming a foreign ‘satellite club’ of the Serie A giants.
