Official: Bale to undergo surgery. He will miss El Clasico & World Club Cup
Real Madrid have issued a statement via their official website that striker Gareth Bale will undergo surgery after damaging tendons in his right ankle in Tuesday night’s Champions League win against Sporting Lisbon.
The 27-year-old will go to the King Edward VII Hospital in London to have the operation and could be out of action for up to three months. He will now miss the Clasico against Barcelona on December 3 and the World Club Cup.
This news will also be a worry for Welsh boss Chris Coleman although his team are not in World Cup qualification action again until March 24 when they make the short trip over the Irish sea to face the Republic of Ireland.
Bale has just signed an extension to his current deal in the Spanish capital which will keep him at the club until 2022 making him one of the highest paid players in world football.
