In an interview with Sky Sports, New York City striker David Villa has denied any interest in a possible January switch to the Premier League.

The 35-year-old explained that; “It’s a championship that fascinates me. I watch all the games and in the past I have had the possibility to head there but now I’m happy in New York and a transfer is certainly not in my plans”.

The former Spanish international shot to stardom in around 10 years ago during a wonderful spell at Valencia where he scored 107 goals in 166 appearances before a big money move saw him head to Barcelona. Despite suffering a host of injuries, Villa scored 33 times in 77 appearances for the Catalan giants and helped the team clinch two league titles and the Champions League in 2011.

He’s represented his country on 97 occasions, scoring 59 goals and was a World Champion in 2010 in South Africa.
