Atletico Madrid join Arsenal, Chelsea in hunt for Calcio star Kessie'
Atletico Madrid are certainly delving into the Italian transfer market again, and are being linked to Arsenal and Chelsea target Franck Kessie.
Madrid paper AS (via Tuttojuve) claim that director of sport Andrea Berta was in Turin on Saturday to watch the Ivorian youngster. Juventus interrupted Atalanta’s streak of nine unbeaten games (including eight wins) with an emphatic 3-1 win.
The Arsenal and Chelsea target has started the season very well indeed, scoring five Serie A goals and adding one assist, helping Atalanta challenge for Europa League qualification.
As we wrote today, however, the Orobici have upped their demands, moving from the €15-20 million range we were reporting on a few weeks ago… to the 30m pricetag currently associated with the Ivorian.
Only 19 years old, Kessie’ had a very promising season on loan to Cesena last season, where he shined enough to attract attention from Juventus, who scouted him on numerous occasions.
Atletico’s interest in Serie A players is hardly a novelty, having nabbed the likes of Sime Vrsaljko, Alessio Cerci, Stefan Savic and Tiago Mendes when they were either in Italy, or had played there before.
