Napoli: Gabbiadini renewal talks fail to produce anything serious

Manolo Gabbiadini has had a difficult season at Napoli and even with the Arkadiusz Milik injury and the Gonzalo Higuain departure, Maurizio Sarri seems to prefer using Dries Mertens (who has been in terrific form) in the false nine position over the Italian forward. He has had a few injury issues but his performances haven't been of the highest order.

Contract talks between the player and Napoli were ongoing but according to Mediaset Premium, talks have now halted between both parties. Gabbiadini's current deal in Naples is set to expire in 2019 as time is ticking away. Can the contract talks re-start ? It could be but as of now it does not look good as Gabbiadini's future remains in doubt.

Napoli are currently 6th in the Serie A standings, nine points off first placed Juventus and four points off third placed AC Milan. They have been doing better in the Champions league as they currently are the leaders of their group (tied with Benfica) with only 2 matchdays to go.
