Napoli, agreement for Pavoletti as Insigne exit gets closer
There’s uncertainty in the house of Napoli. Italian international play-maker Lorenzo Insigne has failed to reach an agreement with the club over a new contract and a departure at the end of the current campaign could be imminent.
Inter has made no secret of their admiration for the 25-year-old and what once seemed like the unthinkable, may be about to happen next summer with the hometown boy and club icon set to leave for pastures new.
According to Mediaset Premium, the vesuviani are already resigned to losing the player and have reached an agreement with Genoa over 27-year-old striker Leonardo Pavoletti. Coach Maurizio Sarri has earmarked the Italian to take the place of Insigne with Manolo Gabbiadini occupying a wide-berth in the new-look starting XI.
Talks between Insigne and the club have broken down over new salary demands made by the player. Still earning way less than some of the other big stars at the San Paolo, the man from Frattamaggiore and the club cannot come to an amicable solution at this time so contingencies have now been put in place.
